Principles on Momentum
Just after the election last fall, I found myself contemplating the state of my country and the state of the church. Sadly, I realized “the land of the free and home of the brave” voted for abortion, legalizing gay marriage and legalizing marijuana. It was painfully clear that the church was on the brink of irrelevancy and had been told by culture and the political world to go sit in the corner and don’t speak.
My muse was jolted, when I heard God say two things to me:
- “Son, the answer for America will not be found in the White House, but in God’s house.” This is not a partisan political statement; my conclusion might well be the same no matter which party had won the presidency.
- The second statement was far more impacting to me. “Son, I’m going to put momentum back in my church.”
I leaped to my feet with anticipation as I began to look at the concept of momentum in a new way. Sir Isaac Newton stated it this way: Mass x Velocity = Momentum. You might wonder what that has to do with the church? It tells me that velocity is more important than mass. It doesn’t matter how big the obstacle is as much as the velocity of the Spirit force that hits it.
Romans 4:17-21 defines momentum: Confession + Faith + Focus (fully persuaded) + God = Unstoppable. It is essential that we (the church) shake off our stagnate state and regain the feeling of being unstoppable.
It’s time for God’s Church to regain momentum – the impetus or force of moving forward at an ever-increasing pace.

Thank you for sharing Ron.
You are right. The answer is going to come from God’s house. How refreshing and exciting!
