THE 6 LAWS TO SUCCESS

I was speaking at a conference in San Antonio, Texas to about 200 pastors. I was most excited about this session in particular because these would be the influencers of influencers. As I started the session, I asked the question, “How many of you want to be successful?” Of course, every hand went up. Then, I asked a subsequent question. “What is success?” To my great surprise, not one of these 200 leaders could give a viable definition of success. It’s really difficult to attain something you can’t define.

Most people define success as having achieved and accomplished an aim or objective, a trackable outcome or abundance in life. It’s usually coupled with visions of wealth and notoriety. The problem, however, is countless people accomplish this and still feel empty, unlovely, and have families that are falling apart.

So, here’s my attempt to define success: success is the progression and culmination of an objective that is meaningful to you and meaningful to God. Success is not just a destination but a journey. If you’re only joy is when you achieve your goal, you will be unhappy most of the time. Surely, success is achieving a meaningful goal, but it is also enjoying the process.

6 LAWS OF SUCCESS

In years of study, I have found there are 6 key laws to success and the process of faith:

1. LAW OF CAPACITY (Matt. 25:14-25)

A person can receive from God in direct correlation to their capacity to receive from God. So many people are asking for things they don’t have the capacity to receive or maintain. Matthew 25 reveals the secret to increasing your capacity: ability + resources + attitude + stewardship = capacity. This is something we discuss at length in my book, The Missing Ingredient.

2. LAW OF CONTROL (Gen. 1:46)

People are positive in life to the dimension that they are in control of their lives. The problem is most people don’t feel in control of their lives. Noted psychologist Martin Seligman suggests 80% of people have learned helplessness. People feel helpless to change their circumstances. They feel controlled by external factors. This is the principle of spiritual authority. Life is never to dictate to us; we dictate to our life (Gen. 1:26).

3. LAW OF EXPECTATION (Heb. 11:1)

What you expect in your heart with conviction becomes self-fulfilling prophecy. Many psychologists believe that 85% of our actions are in accordance with our expectations. In other words, what we do or do not do is in accordance to your expectations. It is essential we learn to create positive experiences in our hearts. This is the foundation to truth.

4. LAW OF BELIEF (Heb. 11:1)

What we believe in our hearts with confidence becomes our reality. You manifest in life what you believe in your heart; therefore, it is important to write on the tablets of your heart on purpose, not by default.

5. LAW OF ATTRACTION (Matt. 16:18-19)

You attract to yourselves people, ideas, and resources according to your most dominant thoughts. It is your recognition system by which you realize God’s provision in His kingdom (Eph. 1:2-3) because your dominant thoughts allow you to recognize what is necessary to step into your destiny.

6. LAW OF CORRESPONDENCE (Rom. 12:2)

Your outside world corresponds to your inside world. This is the dominant law. All of your productive and unproductive manifestations are the product of your inner world, which is the process of a renewed mind, established heart, and transformed personal belief system.

These six laws primarily work in sequence. The Law of Control > The Law of Expectation > The law of Belief > The Law of Attraction > The Law of Correspondence > The Law of Capacity.

God wired you for success. Don’t become, or stay, programmed for failure. Implement these 6 LAWS to achieve success and enjoy the process.
